Having been born and raised in Traverse City, I have seen the area go through a lot of change and growth. However, many things remain the same about our area – our beautiful natural resources and a vibrant community that continues to care about its residents and the area we call home.
While growing up and going to school at Willow Hill Elementary, graduating from the Senior High and attending Northwestern Michigan College then Marquette University, my parents taught me the value of hard work, self-reliance, caring for others, and the value of serving my community.
These values were further instilled through my involvement in the Boy Scouts, where I earned my Eagle Scout with Troop 35. Throughout my adult life I have continued to volunteer in our community. I have been an Ambassador with the National Cherry Festival for over 30 years and currently serve on the Board of Governors. I continue to be involved in Scouting as a member of my troop, district and council committees, and am a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus, and the Elks.
My professional experience comes from working in both the private and public sectors. I have worked in the banking industry and advocated for the region’s business community to local and state leaders through the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, I have gained valuable legislative experience by working at the State Capitol with Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, Senator Jason Allen, and Representative Phil Potvin where I worked to enact legislation, balance budgets, and worked on behalf of the area’s hard working taxpayers.
Now I am running to take my passion for service, solid work ethic, and legislative know how to the Michigan House of Representatives to create new job opportunities for our citizens and streamline state government so it is more effective and efficient for your tax dollar. I am prepared for the job and ready to hit the ground running on Day 1, working tirelessly for you to get things done for Grand Traverse County.
